Walpurgis night
Walpurgis night is celebrated in a special way in Eksjö. In the "Spring play" a battle is fought between the Count of spring and the Count of winter, who both compete for the Princess of spring. This is a horseman play modelled after medieval jousts. So far the Count of spring has always won, but it is just as exciting every year. The Spring play takes place in Sjöängen.
Mitt i Prick
Mitt i prick ("Right in bull's eye") is a swimming contest for participators of all ages. Twenty something swimming clubs from the whole Gothia region gather, and the number of competitors can reach about 300. The contest runs during a weekend in May at Eksjö swimming baths. The organiser is Eksjö Swimming- and Lifesaving Society.

Eksjö Town race
On the last Friday in May, every year, the great runner's feast "Eksjö Stadslopp" ("Eksjö Town race") is carried through. Joggers and elite runners of all ages find their suitable track and category. The race runs through Eksjö town with the Big square as the place of the finish. Eksjö Södra IK is the organiser of the event. If you want to know more, go to their website: www.esik.nu
Music Saturday with guard-mounting parade
This parade with the music corps of the home defence and with the Småland hussars taking the lead, adds even more colour to street life in Eksjö, and fills the air with the sound of wind music and rhythmical marching. On Saturdays during the whole summer.
Day of the Hussars
Ever since 1929, the Day of the Hussars has been celebrated yearly in Eksjö, on the second Sunday of the month of July. The day is in memory of the Småland Hussars, which was the world's oldest cavalry regiment. At the Hussar museum you can learn more about the Småland Hussars.

During the last years we have for example had performances by artists such as Janne Schaffer, The Corbies, Benny and the Bangers, Martin Bagge and singers from the Gothenburg Opera. The communal singing evenings in July attract a large audience, as do also the happy jazz concerts with The Eminent East Coast Dixie Stompers.
The Albert Engström plays in Hult
The Albert Engström plays are arranged every summer by the Hult amateurs at the Engströmsgården in Hult. The plays are based on author Albert Engström's stories about his native district.
Krusagården flea market
This yearly flea market has all kinds of things for sale and attracts a large number of visitors every summer. Open during the whole month of July.

Eksjö Tattoo
Eksjö Tattoo is a big event with military music by Swedish and international orchestras, that is usually held every second summer in the town square in Eksjö. The last Tattoo was 11-14 August 2010. www.eksjotattoo.se
Eksjö Market
Where the roads met at the small village of Eksjö, emerged a natural place for buying and selling all kinds of goods. Eksjö market is therefore probably the town's oldest recurring event. The market takes place in central Eksjö, usually on the second Wednesday of the month of Septetmber.
The Ränneslättsloppet race
The Ränneslättsloppet race is a prestigious contest that in past years has developed to become one of Europe's foremost enduro races, with a large number of people that sign up for it every year. In the world of sports, the Ränneslättsloppet race can be compared to cross country skiing's Vasaloppet race, but on motorbike. The slightly more than 20 kilometers long track is ridden by both exercisers' and racers' classes. This tough battle takes place during a weekend in October every year.
Höglandsbojen life-saving contest
This is one of Sweden's biggest life-saving contests, for both youth and elite classes, with about a hundred competitors. The participants come from large parts of Sweden and during recent years Norway has also participated. The contest takes place at Eksjö swimming baths in October or November every year.
Lucia Cup
Lucia Cup is carried through both in Eksjö and Mariannelund, with a floorball tournament that lasts all night long, on the Friday closest to Lucia day. The arrangement is completely drug-free. The tournament is sandwiched with other activities and music-entertainment.
Eksjö Christmas market
Eksjö Christmas market takes place on Saturday and Sunday during the second weekend of Advent each year, in the Old town. The market is outdoors as well as indoors: Eksjö museum, the Small square, the Krusagården courtyard house, the Fornminnesgården courtyard house, and the Museum courtyard all open up for a multitude of craftsmen that show and sell their high quality handicraft. In the air you will feel the fragrance of mulled wine, ginger biscuits, sausage, pea soup and homemade sweets.
The Christmas market is suitable for individual visitors as well as for groups. The admission is free.

The Aschan courtyard house, a burgher home from the turn of the 20th century and now a museum, is open and decorated for Christmas, and guided tours are held. Information and ticket purchase at Eksjö museum, phone no. 0381-361 60.
