Eksjö Christmas Market

A Traditional Christmas market full of atmosphere in the middle of the unique wooden town of Eksjö.

The market takes place both indoors - at Eksjö museum and Krusagården - as well as outdoors - in the Museum courtyard, at the bridge over the stream, in the small square and - this year - also in the big square.

Feel the smell of mulled wine and ginger biscuits, listen to the clattering of horses' hooves against the hard snow, and watch how genuine handicraft is done.
Here you can meet craftsmen who show and sell their genuine goods - pottery, wood handicraft, smithwork, woven fabrics, embroideries, wool- and leatherwork, corn sheafs, and a lot more. In the bookbindery at the Fornminnesgården their fine old traditional craft is shown.
There is a big selection of Swedish traditional Christmas foods, drinks and sweets: bread, cheese, sausages, marzipan creations, sweets, tasty preserves, fish, juniper berry drink, mustard, etcetera.
In the Big square you can gather for food, drink and music, in the Christmas market's own party tent. In the square there will also be community singing and the Christmas play of Eksjö church.
You can also go on a horse carriage tour through the Christmas market.
Do not miss when the Småland hussars with their beautiful uniforms ride through the town! The Småland hussars association will also serve genuine peasoup from the field kitchen in the Museum courtyard and the Hussar quartet will entertain with music.
At the Aschanska courtyard house there will be tours in Swedish of this burgher home from the former turn of the century, now decorated for Christmas. As these Christmas tours are quite popular, there is a possibility to book tickets in advance at Eksjö museum.
The Aschanska courtyard house will open up to the public during the Christmas market. During this weekend there will also be queue number tickets at the entrance on Norra Storgatan 18. Groups can book tours during the whole month of December, and they can also book guided tours of the Old town.
As usual the admission to the whole Christmas market is free of charge.
