Some once said; Eksjö doesn’t really need any museums, the whole town is like a living museum. This is true, but we still want to keep some of the items in specific museums.
One example is Eksjö Museum which hosts the permanent exhibition “ Eksjö throughout the Centuries”. You will also find the Albert Ensgtröm-collections, probably the largest collection of Engström memorablia.
The Aschan House
Join one of the guided tours and experience 19th century bourgeois life in a small provincial town! Menus, recipes and visitors’ calling cards are reminders of splendid dinners. You can almost hear the murmur of voices, the piano music and the crackling fires in the ceramic stoves. The December guided tour, in particular, attracts many visitors, when the Christmas tree has been decorated, there is a whole table of sweets and candies, and a house maid to take your coat.
Guided tours only in the Aschan house. In July and August there are daily tours - look in the Events calendar for specific times. If you would like a guided tour at another time of year, contact the museum.
